1. Teach your children about money from an early age. Allow your teen to be part of financial discussions such as buying a car, new furniture, or even a house.

2. Play money games. Monopoly is a good start. Search teen money games or apps on the internet.

3. Role play. Have your teen research the price of food, a car, clothing, renting an apartment, or buying a house. Have them report back with results.

4. Take your teen grocery shopping. Have him or her select and compare prices of different brands. Let your teen hand over the cash at the checkout line.

5. Design a Budget Now and a Future Budget with your teen.
